My latest geological love: the Carrizozo Malpais , on the northern part of Tularosa Basin, looking towards the Sierra Blanca.
There I was: scrambling around a’a lava flows (which might be 1000 - 5000 years old) in Hawaiian rubber slippahs (flip flops to you) when I though: rattlesnake territory.
Kinda got cautious after that. But the view and the desert vegetation both are magnificent.
Note to self: explore here in winter or wear high boots.
