Jujube fruit from the Sierra County Farmers Market last month.
Known, amongst other things, as Chinese Dates or Indian Dates, it took me a while to work out that this fruit was not from a palm tree, but from the Ziziphus jujuba tree.
The little date-like fruit are delicious and apparently offer potassium, iron, vitamin C and vitamin A amongst their other nutritional benefits.
I am resolved to plant a tree in spring as I think I have missed the autumn window of planting opportunity. If I can find one.
