Blissed out on monsoon rain

After this week’s three days of good rain at the tail end of June, the garden is so happy.

I love the way Black Crowder cowpeas (Vigna unguiculata) display their pods so proudly.

This important food crop from semi arid Africa, is one of my pantry staple legumes appearing throughout the year as a bit player or the main act in stews, soups, veggie patties, not just (vegan) Hopping John at New Year.
