Harvested the first watermelon for breakfast today.
It is super juicy, making a distinct pop sound at the first cut, cells filled to almost bursting with that lovely monsoon rain last week.
I was worried my swelling Baby Sweets would burst like the splitting tomatoes with all the moisture. Last week, I had just decided to stop watering them to enhance the sweetness (as per some online research into growing these babies) and then they got 5 inches of sky watering in half an hour on Sunday.
There are dozens of swelling melons hiding under the beautiful vines.
My first attempt ever at growing watermelons and I am smitten.
Already planning a trellis structure for them next year.
